I used to run 3 19 Mar 2019 I'd highly suggest checking out https://xcp-ng.org/ for your virtualization server. It's the open source version of Xen Server. I've been running it Günstig. I can ping xcp-ng server from FreeNAS console. I can ping freenas host from xcp-ng console. I am a newbie. I tried connecting from xcp-ng using iscsiadm and the discovery worked fine. but I don't know how to test the LUN part. I would like to set up the SR (Storage Reposiroty) from the console, but I don't know how to do it.
XCP-ng = 96Mbits vs 101 Mbits ESXi. tested with same server, Switch, Windows 10 VM, with same files. I decided to go XCP-ng for being completely free and able to backup VMs. The difference in throughput is not so much to make me use ESXi. Many thanks for all your input.
XCP-ng (an opensource fork of Citrix XenServer) allows us to run pFSense in a Virtual Machine (VM) which allows us to setup periodic backups of said VM via cron-jobs from within XOA (Xen Orchestra). The issue seems to be the installer makes immutable registry entries, meaning some of reg keys cant be deleted or even viewed running as administrator/domain administrator. 99% of the documentation from Xenserver applies to XCP-ng at this point. It's a straight fork with very little changed other than re-adding features that were moved behind a license. The command line stuff is all completely identical, and the XenCenter stuff is all pretty similar to XCP-ng as well.
(Info / … XCP-NG is connected to its NFS storage via 10GBE link and everything on my LAN is wired with at least CAT6 so I doubt latency is coming from physical connections. Anyone have experience configuring and working with VGPU in a similar application?
